“At that time, Jesus came to Jericho intending to pass through the town. There was a man named Zacchaeus, a wealthy chief tax collector, who was eager to see who Jesus was, but he could not because of the crowd, since he was short in stature. So, he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus as he was about to pass that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.” Zacchaeus hurried down and received him joyfully. The people who witnessed this began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner.” But Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “Behold, Lord, I will give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I will repay it four times over.” Then Jesus declared, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a descendant of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost”.”

Luke 19:1-10

“God loved us, and sent his Son as expiation for our sins.”
